How long have you had the corns? The corn I gave my grandniece mellowed out after about two weeks of daily (except 48-hrs after eating) handling. It was never nippy, but hissed at me the first couple of times. After that, it was mostly a matter of it 'running' and me getting alternating hands under it until we both tired of that game (about 15-20 minutes twice a day). When I gave it to the grandniece, it was very calm and easy-going.
