Having lived in Montana for many years I can understand people wanting to come here:-) I live with the states largest state park as my backyard and the Badlands of eastern Montana as my front porch. I have a national park just an hour away...(Theodore Roosevelt National Park). To me this is heaven. I have never gone herping here though, I have seen numerous snakes but never really paid much attention other than to avoid rattlers. however since getting hooked on snakes and herps in general (via my awesome Northern Pine) My interest in local species has grown 100 fold.
Anyways I am rambling... Tell your husband that Montana is awesome and to definately plan a trip sometime.
