In that case ( with a fairly good amount of experience in your favor) there are lots of good choices. I like Gopher, Pine and Bull Snakes, these would be the smaller end of your size requirements. Somewhat bigger, and a really nice snake and one I understand to be pretty calm (never had one myself) is aTaiwan Beauty Snake. This is a large (maybe the largest) rat snake species. Colombian Boas would also fit in as would some pythons. Be careful with a large constrictor up to, what was it you said, 12 feet. They can be potentially dangerous when handled, and should never be handled by you alone (always at least two, but better three people, for a snake that size) just to be careful.

Best regards,
Glenn B

ps: let us know what you choose
