Whenever I looked at apts., I always made sure it was ok with the managers to let me have my snake collection. Every apt I have lived in ( 2 in all ), the owners were cool about it.
When I asked them about it, I gave the subject very little ability to be blown out of proportion. All I have are colubrids, mostly pits, with some kings, milks, corns, and hognose. I have 22 at the current moment. For me, telling them I didn't have boas or pythons, the snakes they are thinking about mostly when the subject is raised, helped. Also, it helps to tell them that you won't even let your neighbors know about your " kids". No one here knows about mine, and they never will. When you show concern to keep them secret as you deal with the apt. managers, that may help as well.
If they don't allow it, there is not much you can do. Thing is, they might keep an eye on you if you move in since you brought it up. The one poster on this thread had a good idea about keeping them in your bedroom.
In all, honesty is the best answer. If this place doesn't allow it, it may not be worth the trouble. Call around and ask the repitle keeping question with other complexes.
Take care!
