Loss of one of my geckos...

I'm just writting to say that one of my texas banded geckos died this morning. It doesn't come as a complete shock to me though. He had been acting really strange lately and he had lost a lot of weight. Almost anything he ate he would just spit back up and then attempt to eat it again. He also developed a large purple spot on his belly overnight. Does anyone know what may have been his cause of death? any input would be appreciated.
