Cresteds are the most insectivorious of the Rhacodactylus' (typically). I offer mine baby food 2x a week and all other days he eats bugs. I put his baby food in a small container, like a dish lid, and he eats it when he wants to. I put it on the floor and it doesn't seem to bother him any. You can try handfeeding the baby food for a while, the once he starts eating it reguarly, leave it in his cage for him (they can smell the baby food, then go and find it).
