I wanted a small gek matching the same situation u decribed, then i found banded geckos, their colorful and if they get to know you you can pick them up. I recomend a Central Amarican Banded gecko as they are alittle bigger then there cosin getting a total size of maybe 6". Plus u dont need lighting only an under tank heater for cold day and nights.
