Fish chunks

I cannot find a straight answer anywhere about fish in a gators diet.I understand that goldfish are bad. I had an idea of maybe buying trout fillets and chopping it as a means of mixing up his diet. AS of right now I do not feed any fish period because I am so nervous in doing so. Has anyone tried this or no of a species of fish that this is ok to do with?
