I have fed gold fish for a few years with no prob, im not sure what it is but there is some toxin that they have in them. Its best to stay away from them if possable, I would keep the diet as is right now. I feed my gators alot of crawdads (crayfish) that I get out of the local creeks, make sure you freaze them for at lest a week. Also if you go fishing safe some of the fish and the bigger ones gut and clean them and safe the meat and freaze it. That was just a few things I do to safe money. Hope this helps!

p.s
try to advoide a strait diet, its bad for them to feed them the same thing over and over, keep it changing, feed somthing new alot, and keep up a good varitey.
