I observed the strangest alligator behavior this afternoon while fishing in one of our local lakes. We passed through a cut into a new area of the lake. As we emerged, there was a tremendous swirl in the water. We were running at probably 15 miles an hour, and whatever it was, began to outrun our boat. The wave generated looked exactly like one that would be generated by a dolphin in the Gulf. The gator, it had to have been a gator, was rolling in the water, we saw it's white belly, while moving at an incredible rate through the water. The swell or wave continued for probably 30 yards. The gator never surfaced.
Does anyone have any idea of what the gator was doing?
