other than fear, its a defense mechanism so that you will let him go. Lets say for instance something grabs him and puts him in his moutch, if he pees hopefully the other animal will not like this taste and let him go. And yes most animals grow out of this, i know my lizards did(savannah,blackthroat,tegu)
