yellow in mouth....i've seen it posted before but......

the only advice Ive ever seen on this subject is to bring the croc to the vet. My dwarf caiman has a little yellow toward the front, inner part of his mouth.I plan on bringing my little guy to the vet but am just curious what this is and if their is anything I can do to cure it myself. Thanks for any advice.
