:Does an owner need a license or permit to own a caiman in florida? Is it possible to get a caiman without a permit?

Yes....You do need a permit to possess an caimen in the state of florida....Permits cost $100.00 and you must have 1000 hours of proven experience of working with crocodilians and must send in 2 letters of reference proving your experience..After that, if your application is accepted they will come out to see your set up... No dealer worth dealing with will sell you a caimen without the proper permits...If caught they stand losing thier license and getting a hefty fine on top of that...Not to mention if you get caught, they will confiscate the animal and your gonna get a big fine or even jail time...Do the smart thing, try getting a job at a local gator farm or volunteering at a local reptile store and work towards getting a permit...You'll be doing the right thing and getting some invalueable experience at the same time.....Good luck!
