Bill, AS i said it was a hypothesis answer. However I will do an experiment on the hypothesis soon when I get the chance. I will need to know how much a 5 footer Paleosuchus palpebrosus weigh so I can caculate, it may not be accurate,its just a guess. Well how much do u think PP's force bite is? Give me an estimate. Anyone??

:I understand your logic, but I think it's flawed. Halving the bite force of an adult 12' gator and relating it to a 6' gator would be like saying that a 3' tall human is half as strong as a 6' tall human. There is no accounting for mass. A 12' gator might weigh 600 or more lbs where a 6' gator weighs about 70 or so (8.5 times less mass). That's a big difference in muscle mass and jaw strength.

::::how powerful are p.palpebrosus jaws, could one take a finger off?

:::caimankid-
:::Your question about how powerful are p.palpebrosus jaws. I might able to answer but it is just a hypothesis answer. A six hundred pounds and twelve footer American Gator’s snap bite is approx 2,125 pound. It will be around 177.08 pounds force bite for each foot. To calculate the five footer male Paleosuchus palpebrosus's snap bite, I will be using a six-footer American gator's force bite that I divided from the 12 footer's force bite. Then I subtracted 107.08 pounds from the 1062.5 pounds (six footer American gator snap bite). It totals to 954.7pounds for the five footer male caiman. It may be not accurate but it should be roughly about 846.9 to 1062.5 pounds for full-grown adult dwarf caiman.
:::Last October I talked to Kent Vliet, an advisor for the Alligator farm about the gator snap force. It was an interesting conversation and I mentioned about other species’ bite force. I asked him if caimans or crocodilian’s force bite were similar with American gators. He says caiman was closer and with the crocs force bite is the opposite. With his comment I was able to figure an estimate force bite for Cuvier’s dwarf caiman. I will do some research on it and try to come with some accurate results. But the theory sounds logical, don’t you think? Whew!! We should be glad Sarcosuchus aren’t walking on the planet today.

:::- I'm open for any discussion on my estimate force bite on Cuvier’s Dwarf Caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus)-
:::5 footer 954.7 pounds
:::4 footer 847.62 pounds
:::3 footer 739.82 pounds
:::2 footer 632.02 pounds
:::1 footer 524.22 pounds
