They are a secretive snake. I use bed a beast as the substrate that is kept damp and a little warm. I have a large piece of corkbark and a large water bowl. The tank is a rubbermaid box. Mine eats almost exclusively skinks...He also eats small frogs. Scinella works well...the small ground skinks that are so common everywhere that ringnecks are generally found. Insects never aroused much interest, but skinks on the other hand did. Frogs are also taken and they are said to eat caudates as well, though houston has few caudates to catch and feed off. Andy
