new ribbon hasnt eaten yet!

i just got my ribbon last week and i still cant get him to eat. i have 2 rosy red feeders in the lagoon and i have 2 earthworms in a cup in there. i also have taken him out and put him in an empty container with worms and crickets (at different times) and he wont even try to eat them. is this normal? thanks
