I think with vagrans, you are more than safe with mice since all of the elegans group are naturally big rodent and "anything they can fit in thier mouth" eaters.

I've also been looking at the mice as being the most "bang for the buck" when compared to buying fish and nightcrawlers--mice appear to be the cheapest food per unit weight. I think I spent somewhere around $70 US feeding my garter last year; with frozen mice I could cut that down to about $50.
