:For those who have melanistic garter, does your snake are entirely black ? are they born that way ? I think that mine is a melanistic but for now he is kinda brown and black. His mother is black with some brown near the head and grayish scale near the belly. I read that this can be a "maritime melanistic garter"... ?!? What do you think ?

Not sure on the melanistic maritime garter.....my melanistic easterns were jet black when they were born and have a patch of white on the underside of their head
