:As for the pinkies i find the idea interesting, can they be frozen pinkie ? must they be still alive ? I read that garter snake have high metabolism, does they need pinkies every day ? What can be a good guideline to know when its time to give pinkies ?

If your baby is about 10 inches long, he should be able to take day old pinks. Mine do. They don't have to be frozen/thawed either, just just scent them with fish and leave them in the cage, the baby should take them.
