I just bought my first garter snake, he,s a baby measuring about 10 inch. I try to feed him guppy...but he dont seem very hungry, is this normal...might he need a couple of days to settle in ?

Secondly, i need help to identify the species. The guy at the pet shop dont have experience with these snake. So my snake is dark brown...its like he have small brown triangle up and black triangle down. In his brown triangle, there is a bit of yellow...
I hope to post a pic soon but until then, can anybody help me ?

Last question, as for the lighting and heating, i try a heat bulb of 50 w but temp was too high, i use a normal light bulb of 40 watt and the temp is about 84 f is this ok ?

I will certainly have more in the next days :)
