Crickets contain 21% protein and 6% fat, whilst mealworms contain 19% protein and 15% fat. But yes mealworms have lots of chitin and certainly not suitable for a frog staple. And mealworms are indeed very fatty foods.

:You might want to try something like nightcrawlers or soemething like that...maybe hissing cockroaches. Mealworms are horrible nutritionally and are basically useless. They are not very full of anything very worthwhile for the frog to be eating, they make a fine supplement though. They also have a high amount of chiton in the exoskeleton which can impact the frogs. So just try a bunch of different food items, but no mice or fish. Andy
