I agree with you here Mark. Invasive species have actually been as much of a detriment to our native species as habitat destruction. In my book, invasive species have no rights other than to have a humane death. I once exchanged e-mails with a person in Australia who ran a web site for the government who advocated killing cane toads by freezing them. This is not considered humane anymore and I urged them to include a paragraph on their web site talking about the use of oragel. Unfortunately that is the only way to euthanize an amphibian for the common hobbyist without getting thrown in jail for possessing a controlled substance!
