So every time we slip up in our judgement we derserve the consequences. If your son climbs a tree, falls out of it and is crippled, he deserves it. No sympathy for the poor kid, lets just bash him and ridicule him. Or doesn't your son climb trees. Yes it was a misguided thing to do, but he doesn't "deserve" to lose his sight for a mistake in judgement. Nor does he deserve public ridicule. I think the poor kid was incredibly lax in judgement. But does he deserve being blinded and then ridiculed in public. Hell no.
