background on three sides? any hiding places like cork bark/live plants? are you referring to dried spanish moss? get rid of it. use bed-a-beast or something like that. they need to dig anyway. I assume you followed the petstore's advice. don't do that. how deep is the water? they don't swim and be sure there is easy access in/out of the water too. heat lamp or heat pad? lamp is much better. if you have a pad and the thermometer is near top of the tank it is too hot!
all of this being said a week is really not that big of a deal as long as you bought a healthy frog. if it is sick then you have a problem. I don't know though. just fix these things if they need fixing and see what happens. don't watch the frog either. put food in and leave frog alone. try nightcrawlers.
