I hand feed mine with a little tong(no sharp edges of course)since the day I got them.I to have a little firebelly that would eat me out of house and home if I let it.This way I know what and how much everybody eats.They are so trained that they jump up on land to feed as soon as I take off the lid.I also hand feed my newts and my pacman.It's worth a try.
