When i lived in the east i recall that peeprs were the first frogs out (in places where you didn't find sylvatica) opften a month before greys, and the bulls, greens and leopards. In fact, i often recall finding them when looking for late salamander breeding. I don't know the range of the call but they seem to congregate in great numbers.
