well i dont think its eggs. it may be skin or something. i was changing the water today. it looked awfull because it looked like there was oil all over the top of the water, and i didnt know where it was coming from. i found out after cleaning my tank it was the fish net i was using to clean impurities from the water.
any ways, i put a peice of driftwood in there and under the water on the driftwood was a white mucous (spell?) on the side of the wood under the water line. or something that resembled mucous.
