Few questions regarding caging building???

I plan to build a cage for my Frillies that will be here Jan 7th. They are babies but i'm going to start the adult cages now (they'll be housed in tanks for now) ... My question is what's a good wood to use and what tools were used for assembly? Please go easy as i am an ametuer when it comes to building... I wouldn't mind seeing so cages others have as i do better from sight than from words... By the way i looked in the archives 1-10 and found nothing regarding my post :)
