weird finding

i had an incounter of a herp but i dono wut it was
it got away b4 i could capture it cause it scared the crap out of me. i was at the bank of a canal across the street from my house in south florida,and like a dolphin this creature jumped up out of the ground it was the coolest thing. it kinda look like a sandfish skink same colors and every thing . it floped on the ground like a fish and then went back into a hole in the grass and i couldnt find it again
any ideas wut it is cause i havent a clue
