Need help with turtle I.D.

don't know if you can help but my son found a small turtle today on the golf course in long island N.Y and we are trying to find out what kind it is and then also how to take care of it, it has a reddish orange bottom and is blackish on the top,fairly pointed shell and a bit of orange on the underside of shell as well, any info you could send our way would be greatly appreciated. thank you, linda
