I went searching for salamanders a couple weeks ago. We found a bog that had hundreds of newts. Here is a picture of a newt orgy. You can only see 4 clearly, 6 if you look really hard, but there were probably around 12 involved. Over the past month or so we've also found a metamorphosed pacific giant that was about 3 inches SVL (I had no idea they even came this small metamorphosed). I've also found northwesterns & eggs, western redback, dunn's, ensatinas and fairly large group of columbia torrent salamanders localized around a small spring. How common are torrent salamanders? I know that they are listed as sensitive. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me.
