I like in SE michigan and i wouldn''t call myself an expierenced herper but i do find a good number of herps when i go out. My favorite spots down here are abandoned fields just flipping boards or other trashwhere i find garters, northern redbellies, brown snakes, eastern milks and ribbion snakes . I find 90% of all the snakes i find hiding under old boards and trash. To find watersnakes and turtles try basicly anywhere near water. I don't really know the best times to go out but late spring is always really productive for me. Good luck!!
