Here is the first snake I found this year. It is a small Northern Pacific rattlesnake
found night driving in early March at about 55 degrees.

On 4-11-03 I wskipped out on work for an afternoon of fishing/herping in Kern County.
First off I found my first ever Sierra Nevada Ensatina under a log covered with fallen
leaves.

I didn't find any snakes after 3-4 hours of looking in every crevice and under
everything but I did manage to catch a few fish like the smallmouth here.

I also got some good shots of all the wild flowers that are all over right now and this
lady bug.
