tips for louisianna

Im going to be in alexandria LA again for a day and wonder if anyone can give me some advice on where to look for snakes and what I may find. I walked on foot about 6 miles last time, down a rail road track near the airport and found some lizards and a nice sized skink but no snakes. If there is some good snake habitat around I'll grab a rental car this time but I need some leads first so its not so uncertain.
I'll be in alexandria on thursday april 3rd leaving early april 4th.
