:Took the kids out for spring break this past week.
This was more of a relaxing trip than a herping
trip, but still managed to turn up a few interesting things to photograph.
It's still a little early here with cool nights, but things are starting to move.
The first and only snake of the trip - Masticophis taeniatus schotti - apparently a new county record for Medina county
I've also seen girardi here but have yet to get photographs of them.
Then a Medina county Short Lined Skink - Eumeces tetragrammus brevilineatus
A nesting Great Horned Owl, also in Medina county
nesting in the same spot as last year.
On to Brewster county - this is the first of two Collared lizards found - Crotaphytus collaris collaris
The Cacti are just getting started - We're still a week or more away from the main blooms
Opuntia engelmannii ssp.
Echinocereus dasyacanthus ssp.
The second of two Collared Lizards - Crotaphytus collaris collaris
Texas Banded Gecko - Coleonyx brevis
:
And finally an unidentified fish vertabrae in sandstone matrix plus or minus 80 million years old
