:: I usually find tons of gopher snakes on a usual days hike and know that they are highly variable,but I found one today that appears to have grey blue lateral stripes(pairs on each side)That fade as they reach the midsection of the body.Also,dorsally,his color is a normal gopher coloration towards his head and turns to brick(not bright red)red.His tail and lower sectoin is really cool looking because as the stripes join farther down the body,it gives the snake a bluish appearence(no the snake is not in shed)and also that is where the dorsal pattern is the most red.Sorry for the long explanation,but I don't have a camera and am dying to find out if anyone knows what type this could be.One more thing,there is a very,very, faded temporal stripe.Any ideas?

:Based on your description, it sounds like you found an interesting snake. Question: Did you collect it, and if so, can you supply any photos so we may better identify it? If not, go back out and find him, then take photos! I for one would be very interested to see what he looks like.
