I have had pretty good luck in the Francis Marion National forest.
Tons of Scarlet kings, Eastern kings, and I have found Green snakes, Muds, Corns, hognose, Pinewoods, racers and other common stuff. I did not find any Copperheads or Rattlesnakes?
I was not collecting, not sure if you can collect in the forest or if you plan on collecting. I want to take a trip there this April or may.
Oh and for Okeetee, I would not suggest going onto any of that property with Mass Plates. I was with a Local who had permission to go on that property and almost got shot. I was driving my car with Connecticut plates. Ended up getting kicked out. Jasper county in general had a Bad vibe. I think Caufelds book made it a bit too popular.
Good luck,
Chuck
PS: Oh ya pick up a map of the forest and drive to all the dead ends this is where you will find good junk piles.
