Hi Mike, not sure whether i can make it to VA this year, but i'm staying in touch with howie.

Bob montoya and I saw a bobcat just outside Portal, AZ, a year or two ago, too. It darted out of the scrub (diff name for it in AZ?), bounded across the dirt road we were driving on, and disappeared. That same trip, on a night drive on the mountain road, several gray foxes ran across the road and up a slanted tree at roadside. They were bigger, and in the headlights, more ghostly and dramatic, than i ever would have guessed. More catlike, too, as they went up the tree.
