Automatic watering systems

Ok, I'm about to spring for a system.

Do you use the Edstrom Vari-Flow, the Borak Small Animal Valve or something else?

Can they be mounted from the top, sticking down into the cage?

Ever have one fail and leave your animals without water or flood them?

Anything else I should think about?
