I feed lab blocks made for a local breeder here in Los Angeles plus a little cabbage once a week. The good thing about a rodent chow - lab block type of feed is that the animals get a ballanced diet. They can't pick and choose. I feed it in a hopper so there is very little waste. Nothing against anybody else's way. Ive fed dog chow before, that worked fine also. The price I pay for them is almost the same and the lab block works better in the hoppers. When I fed mixed stuff, I used a dish at first. That was a disaster. Food everywhere, poop in the dish, lotsa waste. Then I tried a metal chute type feeder. They took all the food out and hid it in the corners, lotsa poop and waste again. Then I switched to wire basket hoppers and lab blocks. Almost no waste. The lab block dust in the bottom of the bag gets fed to the hissers.
