from what I've read, I've assumed the whole reason this speeds up the pupation is because it mimics a situation where they would need to develop fast and breed becasue of harsh environmental conditions. I lost two at first out of the 12, but that's it. They are on a sprinkling of oat bran - that's all. Keep us updated on your progress. I'm waiting on my beetles now...
