I had a mouse that produced large healthy litters well past a year (15-21 per litter). I finally culled her when she started to develop a huge tumor on her back leg. I kept some of her offspring and they were great breeders too although I haven't kept any of them as long as my original super-mom. So I have to agree that it depends on the female. Generally when litter size starts decreasing I cull them out.
