Bedding for rats?

I've heard of people useing wood shavings, cell-sorb (which I cant get in my area), Carefresh (which I can), Carefresh or cell-sorb mixed with cat litter, rabbit pellets, shredded paper...etc. What would YOU reccomend as a bedding? Keeping the smell down is a BIG issue. Also, what tips do you have for getting rid of smell (besides cleaning a lot). Thanks.
