I would take them off the heat pad. It is probably just a little to hot. Just keep them at room temperature, but make sure it doesn’t get to cold. When I separate my worms I don’t put them anything. When their morphing they don’t need to eat anything. I also use 35mm film containers to separate them. Here is a care sheet I made that might help you.
