You can feed them fruits, veggies, fish food and just about anything else. I use fish flakes along with chick feed and dog food. For water i use red lettuce or romaine. I occasionally use a damp paper towel.
As for housing i use a 66 quart steriliteor rubbermaid container with paper towe or toilet tissue rolls inside. Then all you do is lift a roll out and shake them into your bag and no escapees.
