:just saw a programm on experiments on rodents in labs. anyway they were kept in cages with wire floors. does anyone uses this system?
I don't and probably never will. But I know folks that do and are okay with it. Theoretically it is a good way to get rodents with bumblefoot and other nasty foot inflamations and infections. My luck it would be a problem. I have had rats in wire cages and as it is one got his leg through the side and fell and broke his leg. (it healed badly but even so he continued to live fine and get along without a limp as a pet of my son's.)
The other trouble with wire flooring is that the babies can get caught in or fall through the wire, depending on the spacing.
I keep rabbits on wire and other bare footed beasties on flat floor.
