I can usually tell when one of the females is about to give birth~ She will be on one side of the tank, and every single other rat in the tank will be piled up as far from her as they can get trying not to breath.....and if one of them twitches, the one about to give birth delivers a pretty serious beating until all rats are back in their corner, trying not to breath.
I remember giving birth to my two sons.....thats pretty much how I felt too!
