What kind of digital camera should i buy?

I'm usuaually on the frog and invertebrate forum, but now I'd like to start taking some pictures. How does a digital camera really work and what can I buy for around $100-$200. I just want decent clear pictures that people can view with some zooming features. It is not necessary for me to take top quality pictures. Any suggestions please?
