las tortugas hembra se distinguen de los machos, porque estos tienen la cola mucho más larga que, los plástrones de los machos se caracterizan por una curva hacia el interior más profundizada que en las hembras, y estas suelen ser de mayor tamaño que los machos. En ejemplares jóvenes es precticamante imposible distinguir el sexo.
