I will never lose respect for the ability of a rat snake to survive after escape. I was amazed to find a slightly larger, slightly dehydrated and slightly aggressive black rat snake I had lost a year before. Well a little less than a year(By 2 months). We have had a slight mouse problem this year. And had one take up in residence in a cabinet in the kitchen. And we tried for a week to get him. Well the day before my mother was going to tear the cabinet apart to get the mouse. I went to get some soup out and discovered a snake and was happy to see the black rat I had lost the 10 months before. And almost 4 inches longer. A little thin but alive. AMAZING.
